Bodmin Trophies Duchy Premier
St Columb Minor 6
Gunnislake 0
GUNNISLAKE travelled to top of the table St Columb with just a bare eleven. For varying reasons, mainly injuries, they were without seven players who have regularly started this season, together with a further five squad players.
Gunnislake were forced to start four players who had each not previously played this season and a fifth who had not started a fixture this campaign. However, all five contributed to produce a performance that paid credit to the club.
Mark Southcott had to play in his less accustomed role of goalkeeper and made some good stops, as all but one of the six regulars in the line-up played in different positions to those they have played throughout the season.
St Columb were kept at bay until 20 minutes when a good twenty-yarder broke the deadlock. A second followed before the turnaround.
The home side were made to work all the way for their victory as emphasised by the fact that their final three goals were scored in only the final ten minutes.
Having had their six-match unbeaten run ended, Gunnislake will look to put this game behind them when they entertain Mevagissey this Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm.
