RAILWAYS minister David Jamieson MP is to take a trip by train to Gunnislake tomorrow (Friday), to mark a £600,000 investment in improving branch line stations and services this year.
The four stations at Bere Ferrers, Bere Alston, Calstock and Gunnislake have all been improved this year, thanks to a £276,000 partnership between Devon and Cornwall county councils, the Strategic Rail Authority, the Countryside Agency and other local bodies.
In addition, year-round Sunday train services were restored to the line this autumn after a 40-year break.
Mr Jamieson will take the 9.42am train from Plymouth to Gunnislake to view the improvements, before taking the same train back to Calstock Station.
The party will return to Plymouth on the 12.32 train from Calstock.
