A SUPERB century from captain Mikey Cousens was the inspiration as the Mount House first XI cruised to a victory over St Michael's — it was the first century scored by a Mount House pupil in a competitive match for the school for more than 30 years. Mount House batted first and the partnership between Cousens, who finished with 110, and Freddie Jayarajah (50) laid the foundations for an imposing total. Cousens' all-round stroke play was a delight to watch as Mount House reached 190 for 8 declared. Ollie Sale (3 for 4) and Jayarajah (2 for 3) then ripped into the St Michael's top order, backed up by a stunning stumping by Rhys Davies. The visitors were all out for just 28, giving Mount House victory by 162 runs. The U12s team also had a good victory against Plymouth College in the first round of the Devon Cup. In their 30 overs Mount House posted a respectable total of 144, with Ollie Sale (28), Edmund Fulford (26), Fred Cave (23) and Henry Wells (23) all making telling contributions. In reply, Plymouth College were bowled out for just 40. Alexander Woolcock had an excellent debut as wicketkeeper.
