THE annual meeting of Tavistock Sir Francis Drake Bowling club saw the re-election of all the past year's management committee office holders, following what most members saw as a successful year.

Match secretary Tony Coombs reported that the men's county trophy team had won eight and lost six matches to end the season in a mid-table position.

The men's Plymouth and District League team had won 11 matches and lost one, which was the inter-division play-off's quarter final.

In friendly matches, the club men's and mixed teams had won 25 and lost 15 matches. Some seven matches had to be cancelled during the year, usually due to poor weather.

Ladies' secretary Marion Allen reported that the ladies' section league first division team finished the season of league matches in mid-table position, having won nine games and lost seven, scoring a shots totals of 637 shots for and 595 against.

The ladies played 20 friendly rinks, winning 17 and losing three with shots totals of 779 for and 689 against.

Club chairman Colin Tremaine reported that during the year, the clubhouse kitchen had been completely re-furbished, the changing rooms roofs re-sheeted and considerable work done on raising the edges of the green and general building repairs.

He noted that the club had spend more that £4,000 on such work and further repairs would be undertaken during the closed season.

Ladies section: ladies' captain Jean Flay; ladies' vice captain Hazel Lovell; ladies' section secretary Marion Allen; ladies competition secretary Yvonne Meneer.

The next club event will be a coffee morning on December 9 at 10.30am when a cheque will be presented to the Marie Curie Fund.
