MID Devon Pony Club girls' tetrathlon team have qualified for the
national championships to be held in Warwickshire in two weeks' time. The team of Laura and Sarah Gomersall and Jess Trerise finished as runners-up to the South Devon Moorland team in the area competition and now have a chance to compete against the best clubs in the country.
This is the first time for many years that a team from the Mid Devon PC has reached the nationals in any discipline.
All three girls put in great performances in the shoot and swim phases
then faced the challenging Holwell Lawn cross-country course. The course proved testing, but Laura rode a beautiful clear round while Sarah had just one stop.
This meant the team started the running phase in second place and all three girls produced fast runs to secure qualification for the nationals. Sarah was the second fastest runner and Laura third fastest in their class.
The Individual event provided more Mid Devon successes with Laura doing brilliantly to win the members' section, with Sarah coming second.
This coming weekend Sarah and Laura will be representing the South West in the UK regional tetrathlon competition being held at Stockland Lovell.
