A MARY Tavy couple recently tied the knot after 32 years together.
Michael Cook and Alison Fife had a simple ceremony at the Tavistock Town Council chamber followed the next day by a celebration party at the The Stannary in Mary Tavy for more than 65 friends — some of whom came from as far as Manchester and Kent.
Michael and Ali, who will take the joint surname Fife Cook, are well known locally, having run The Stannary vegetarian restaurant in Mary Tavy in the 1980s and 1990s, then the computer business Qwerty in Tavistock up to 2006.
Ali is involved in local amateur drama and is the chair of The Tavonians Theatre Company.
The couple have opened their garden in aid of charity for several years. They are also founding trustees of the Mary Tavy Jubilee Group — an organisation set up recently to enhance the lives of those living in the village.
