THE Methodist church has stepped into a ‘new era’ with the appointment of a community worker based in Horrabridge.

The aim of the appointment of Ali Mansfield is to work with people of all ages and to contribute to the ‘social and spiritual life’ of the community.

The Rev Pam Stranks, superintendent minister of the Tavistock Group of Methodist Churches, said: ‘I’m really pleased to say we have just appointed Ali Mansfield to this new and important role. We’re delighted to have her to take this initiative forward.

‘It is some years since the Methodist church in Horrabridge was open for worship and the local congregation joined with our Anglican friends at St John’s but we are convinced there is important work for us to do within this community.’

On her new role, Mrs Mansfield said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of the team and to be able to reach out and do God’s work.’

A commissioning service for Mrs Mansfield was recently held at Tavistock Methodist Church, to mark the beginning of what the Methodist Circuit believes will be an exciting new era.
