BIKERS enjoyed a mug of tea at Louis' Tea Room near Callington last week as Cornwall Road Casualty Reduction Partnership launched this year's motorcycle awareness campaign.
As part of the campaign, mugs are being distributed to biker-friendly cafés and rest stops throughout Cornwall.
The cartoon strip running around the mug reminds motorcyclists to take extra care on the road, by showing an unwary rider confronted with an agricultural vehicle on a bend.
Artwork for the mugs was chosen by an email poll of 170 riders who have signed up to the motorcyclist consultation group, with the tractor being preferred over other options of T-Rex or a wayward cow.
The launch of the campaign is timed to coincide with the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, traditionally the start of the motorcycle 'season', when many riders get their bikes out for the first time after winter.
The cartoon message will also appear on pump nozzles at 18 forecourt sites throughout the summer, aimed at raising awareness of the particular vulnerability of motorcyclists to both drivers and riders.
Pictured are bikers Steven Marsh, Adam Arscott and Glenn Canham with the new mugs.
