AS part of their season of summer special events Morwellham Quay are very pleased to welcome Miracle Theatre to the site on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 August with their latest production ?Quasimodo?.
Based on the classic melodrama, ?The Hunchback of Notre Dame?, Miracle?s new show is typically over-the -top, improbable and funny, and brings to life some of fiction?s most compelling characters: the passionate but inarticulate outcast, Quasimodo; the swashbuckling cad, Captain Phoebus; the lustful, repressed priest, Frollo; the dreamy, ineffectual poet, Gringoire, and the sparkling object of their desire, Esmerelda.
The steep cliffs of the Tamar gorge and the ?Victorian? setting of the quay should provide a wonderfully atmospheric backdrop to Miracle?s unique brand of theatre and an entertaining and even spine-chilling evening is promised.
But be warned: Victor Hugo may have written one of the world?s most enduring love stories, a tangle of enchantment, desire and heartache, but he wasn?t keen on happy endings!
