THREE winners of an award marking the achievements of individuals in West Devon are being honoured at civic receptions later this month.
Thirteen-year-old Ashley Cackett, David Johnson and Colin Harris have each won the West Devon Mayoral Awards which aim to promote the good work of key residents and organisations in the borough.
Ashley, who lives in Tavistock, is a keen archer and earlier this year fought off stiff competition to win the national Under 16s boys? field archery championship.
His award recognises his hard work, dedication and achievement at a national level in the field of archery.
David, 17, is the chairman of Tavistock?s Youth Café group and won the award for his work in the community and on behalf of young people in the borough.
Colin is the West Devon Community Watch representative, Chairman of Devon and Cornwall Community Watch Association, Marketing Officer for Devon and Cornwall Crimestoppers Trust and a member of the South West Regional Neighbourhood Watch Forum.
He is also a parish councillor and secretary to Lewdown Recreation Youth Sports Committee.
West Devon mayor Cllr Peter Hill said that he was delighted at the high standard of entries.
?It?s heartening to know that so many people are out there in West Devon carrying out such a lot of good work,? he said.
