THE mayor of Okehampton Christine Marsh has arranged a public meeting to discuss sporting facilities in the parish in response to calls from residents.
Cllr Marsh said she was carrying out the wishes of the people whom the town council was there to represent.
'There have been letters in the Okehampton Times calling for a meeting so this will be the chance for people from all sports organisations in the town to put their views across,' she said.
The meeting on February 29 at 7pm in the Charter Hall will be attended by members and officers of West Devon Borough Council and town council members. It will also be open to all electors of Okehampton.
Some concern has been expressed by Okehampton residents that the public have not had enough input into a plan for a sports complex and swimming pool in the town which is being submitted for a lottery bid.
