THERE is a new face in Milton Abbot Village — and the name is MAVIS.
Two mothers from the village have reopened the local shop, renaming it MAVIS or Milton Abbot Village Independent Store.
When the shop closed down just before Christmas, leaving the village without a general store, locals Romilly Cousins and Justine Ridley decided to take it on themselves.
With seven children between them anyone would think they had enough to do, but they decided not only to reopen the shop, but to launch a cafe and takeaway as well.
The shop is a family venture, stocking everything from tinned mushy peas to fresh bread, pasties and pies all baked on the premises.
MAVIS is already up and running from 8am to 6pm weekdays and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays, but its official opening will be this Saturday, March 20.
