Motel & Offwell 1 South Zeal United 1 ZEAL produced a very good performance at Offwell on Saturday and fully deserved at least the draw as Offwell equalised through a disputed penalty. Zeal started well with Luke Honeychurch running the home defence ragged and took the lead when a well taken corner by Garry Smith was headed home by Harley Cann, 10 minutes later the home side equalised when Dan Malcolm was adjudged to have brought down an Offwell forward in the penalty area and the resulting penalty gave Dan in the Zeal goal no chance. The remainder of the game was very equal as both sides went for the winner but chances were missed at both ends and a draw was a fair result. Zeal had avoided relegation when beating Crescent at home several weeks ago and ended up mid table after losing only two games out of the last six to end the season in good form. Having struggled with injuries all season some of the younger players in Zeal?s small squad have had to come through and pushed on by Reg Wonnacott this did happen to allow the club to finish in a good position. The club thanked its supporters and sponsors and also The Kings Arms and the Taw River Inn who both provided food for the team during home matches. The club?s dinner and dance will be at the Fingle Bridge Inn on the June 11.
