MARTYN Hill and Rodger Denton had a sudden death shoot-off at the July meeting of Hatherleigh Shooting Club — the event was long overdue, being delayed by the foot and mouth situation.

Martyn knocked Rodger out and took proud possession of the Duke of York Cup.

The event coincided with the Duke of York prize shoot.

President Barry Downton took the prize three points ahead of Rodger Denton.

In third place came Ken Turner.

Landlord of the Duke, Jamie Stewart, presented the prize at Iddesleigh.

Top gun of the day was John Board who shot a blistering 40 points, the maximum possible score.

The shoot was held at Eggesford Country Hotel by permission of owner John Pitt.
