THE heat took its toll on times run by eleven members of Tavistock Athletic Club in the recent Plymouth 10K, run over two laps in and around Central Park. First home, in fifth place overall and in excellent form, was Martin Exley in 36 minutes 51 seconds, with Chris Eastaugh next in 44 mins 16 secs and Pete Bazley third home in 45 mins. 47 secs.

The other finishers were Robert Dawe 47.38, Nicole Heryet 50.44, Roger Hewitt 52.28, Adrian Bower 55.10, Dan Bates 60.16, Carolyn Dawe 62.36, Marion Playle 65.21 and Hazel Walker 66.23.

Last Saturday saw the Dartmoor Dash in which 17 members fought their way over five miles of moor from Princetown, which included some rough tracks and climbing five stiles.

The club came away with four prizes. Martin Exley was again the leading club runner finishing in fifth place in 36 mins. 36 secs, taking the Vet 40 prize, with Pete Bazley second home in 39.40.

Mary Fulton and Beryl Bowles in 66.12.

Most of the leading contenders in the Grand Prix took part in both races, and with just one more event to go, the leading positions are tight : Ladies: 1, Nicole Heryet 109 points; 2, Carolyn Dawe 108.5; 3, Annette Roberts 70; 4, Beryl Bowles 63; 5, Anna Johnson 60. Men: 1, Robert Dawe and Roger Hewitt 94 points (new leaders); 3, Chris Eastaugh 91; 4, Pete Bazley 78; 5, Mike Lewis 60.
