IN order to comemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the first world war next year, the National Trust's Cotehele estate plans to put together an exhibition of wartime memorabilia.
Rachel Hunt, house and collections manager at Cotehele, said: 'We hope to pull together objects with a strong local connection and, most importantly, the stories associated with them.
'Personal stories about the first world war deserve our attention, if we don't they will to fade into obscurity. We're looking forward to helping people share the memories and experiences of their forebears.'
An object may have been manufactured locally to help with the war effort, or perhaps it belonged to someone who was involved in, or affected by, the Great War.
Medals, trench art, clothing, photos, jewellery letters and other items are being sought.
If anyone has any of these items they would be prepared to lend to Cotehele between August 2014 and October 2015, or even until November 2018 please contact Rachel Hunt on 01579 352723 or e-mail: [email protected]">[email protected]
