A MARIE Curie Nurse was one of 140 who took part in the first Great Daffodil Walk held at Cotehele Estate on Sunday, April 2. Carol Drumond, from Plymouth, nurses terminally ill cancer patients around West Devon and will be a familiar face to those patients and their families. The walk took participants around the estate and back to the quay ? walkers had the choice of completing either a 5km or 10km route. They gained sponsorship in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and a total of £4,732 has been raised. The event was hosted with the support of the National Trust and once the walkers had completed their challenge they were free to explore the house and gardens of Cotehele. It is hoped this event will become annual for Marie Curie Cancer Care, raising funds to support the valuable work of local nurses who care for terminally ill cancer patients wishing to spend their last days in the familiar surroundings of their own homes. This service is completely free of charge, therefore the charity relies on generous voluntary donations to continue providing its services.
