TAVISTOCK's record-breaking marathon runner Adam Holland scooped another accolade last weekend.
Adam, 23, who is now the youngest person in the world to have run 100 marathons, was presented with a Heart FM Pride of Plymouth Award at a glittering ceremony at the city's New Continental Hotel.
Adam said: 'It was fantastic when the man opened the envelope and read my name out! My dad was there to see it as well, so he was very happy.
'It was quite a thing, everyone was all dressed up very fine and I don't do that sort of thing very often! They showed videos of all the finalists and I thought mine looked awful!'
Winning the award depended on votes from the public and a panel of judges. Adam won the community award in recognition for the voluntary work he does with sports organisations in the town, including the athletic, football and hockey clubs, with Tavistock Primary School and the fundraising he has done locally.
He thanked everyone who had taken the time to vote for him, and his sister and friends who had 'spread the word' about his award nomination.
Adam said things had been 'a bit hectic' since his world-record breaking run at the Eden Project on October 10.
He competed in the Dartmoor Vale Marathon last Sunday, coming second in a time of 2:56.37 — 26 seconds faster than his Eden run.
'I played hockey the day before, so I'm guessing my legs were still a bit tired.' Adam, now has his sights set on another award.
'I heard yesterday I'd been nominated for the The Herald's Sports Personality of the Year award, which is quite a thing — it's all been a bit exciting,' said Adam.
The awards take place at Plymouth Pavilions on Monday, December 6.
