TAVISTOCK Athletic Club's Adam Holland has now finished 70 marathons and he's looking forward to making it to 100.
When Adam started out for the record in Feburary 2007 he did not think he would get them done in just over three years — although Adam has until 2015 to break the record.
His 100th marathon will be ran at the Eden Project marathon in October 2010 and he's hoping lots of his friends past and new will be there to watch and take part in the marathon or the half marathon.
He told the Times: 'I made my 100 marathon a local one so my mum and dad, brothers and sisters could be there for my big day.'
The athlete is still working out which 30 marathons he will be doing next year. However he will be competing in the Windermere '10 marathons in 10 days' again — an event he enjoyed success in this year. Adam holds the world record for the fastest person to run 10 in 10, with a total aggregate time of 32 hrs 47 min 3 sec and an average marathon time over 10 days of 3hrs 16min 42sec. He is going to try and break his world record and do an average time of 3hrs 15min over the 10 days.
Also in 2010 he will be looking at doing Gloucester, Duchy, Taunton, New Forest, South Devon Coastal, Cornwall Coastal, North Devon and Isle Of Wight. If you know someone that will be doing a marathon let them know that Adam will be looking for help to getting to the races.
In 2010 Adam joins a team of top athletes: Eliot Challifour, Steve Osborne, Sean Frost, Tim MacDowell, Nicole Walters, Dong Hall, Ross Macdonald, Matt Cook, Ian Hobley sponsored by Votwo, Helly Hansen soft top (branded votwo), Cliff Bar products, Fusion triathlon kit and Muc Off Product. Adam will be entering races under votwo.co.uk.
