THE sun shone brightly at Lamerton Village Fete last Saturday ? and the crowds flocked in to enjoy a day of entertainment for all the family.
A mammoth cheque presentation was made during the event, by London marathon runner Dan Worth. He raised £1,695.80 by completing the gruelling run, which was presented to the Lamerton Parish Hall Committee, which is fundraising for a new hall.
West Devon and Torridge MP John Burnett visited the fete and congratulated Dan with a specially prepared folder, containing the names of his hundreds of sponsors.
Mr Burnett said: ?I pay tribute to Danny for this amazing effort and to all those involved in this project. They are all working together for the benefit of future generations in Lamerton and the surrounding parishes. This is real community spirit in action.?
During the fete there was a football tournament, vintage tractor display, pony rides and a host of other entertainments.
