WITH reference to your front page story in the Tavistock Times Gazette of June 29 'Band hits low note'.
The problems the town band have encountered in the last few months, have many different causes, the principle one being the so-called dissatisfaction with the band's musical director Tony Evans.
Not everyone in the band would agree with Chris Northey's comments. It would have been much better if the band could have had discussions with Tony before they excluded him from two important band meetings, which was the reason he tendered his resignation as director of music.
Surely, the town band exists to allow like-minded people to meet in peace and harmony to perform music for the enjoyment of all, and to give the town a musical organisation it can be proud of. Tony Evans worked extremely hard to do that, and succeeded in inspiring the band to greater things. He will be very difficult to replace.
