Duchy Premier Gunnislake 5 Lamerton 1 GUNNISLAKE were without six of their squad and so manager Tim May came out of retirement to be his team?s only sub. The absentees included keeper Andy Brenton and so for the second time already this season attacker Matt Avery went between the posts. Lamerton started brightly but Gunnislake were first to score. Jarryd Kelly created himself a shooting opportunity and his good strike was well saved by Pete Daniel only for a defender to turn the rebound into his own goal. Undeterred the visitors continued to press and deservedly equalised through Dan Healy. Daniel made an excellent save but from the resultant corner Gunnislake scored. Stef Kelly?s centre was headed goalwards by Nathan Dore. The ball found Mark Warwick whose first effort Daniel saved, his second was blocked by a defender but third time lucky and he found the net. Avery made a brilliant save when one on one with Ben Rushall to maintain his teams lead in to the second period. Kevin Swift struck a free kick against the upright for the visitors who also had an effort cleared off the line by Clint Nash. Having saved a goal, Nash was soon on hand to score his first goal for Gunnislake when he capitalised on a loose ball following a Chris Mackintosh free kick. May came off the bench and his presence soon saw a Lamerton defender head another Mackintosh free kick into his own goal. Stef Kelly wrapped up the win when he lobbed Daniel from an acute angle. Saturday in the Devon Senior Cup Buckland versus Lamerton, 2pm. Duchy division 5 Biscovey Reserves 1 Gunnislake Reserves 1 GUNNISLAKE reserves bounced back from last week?s heavy defeat to gain a point away from home at much fancied Biscovey. Taking the game by the scruff of the neck Gunnislake dominated for large periods of the first half. Ashley Dobson went closest with a fine volley bringing a good save out of the Biscovey keeper. The visitors took the lead through a superb strike by Adam Brimacombe after half an hour. Gunnislake were unable to add to this goal and were caught out after the interval by a Biscovey break away and paid the price as the home side equalised. Gunnislake could have wrapped up the game in the last ten minutes through Andy Southcott, his effort just going over the bar. This was a much improved performance by Gunnislake and hopefully over the next few games they should start climbing the table. This Saturday the reserves are home to Grampound with a 2.30 kick off. The Premier side travel to St Dennis where they to are scheduled to kick off at 2.30pm.
