MASKS inspired by the legends and myths of Dartmoor are among those in a new exhibition at the High Moorland Centre in Princetown.
Professional mask maker Phil Clark has on display a wide range of masks, some from commissions for theatre companies such as Theatre Alibi and Wolf and Water. There are also therapy masks, masks from Phil's own productions and Commedia-type half masks.
Phil lives in Devon and has been working with masks for 15 years, having studied with makers and performers both in Britain and in Italy, Germany, Bali and China. His masks have been used in performances from Eire to Israel.
A key part of the exhibition is the result of his relationship with Dartmoor and some of the masks were used for performances about the legends and myths of Dartmoor. Others are more unusual and grow out of a wish to create masks that re-interpret Dartmoor in an unique and striking format.
The exhibition runs until October 17 at the centre, which is open daily from 10am to 5pm, and admission is free.
