TAVISTOCK Swimming Club hosted a friendly gala against Okehampton at Meadowlands on Saturday, with Tavistock fielding two teams.
The gala saw Tavistock Yellow team emerging the victors with 123 points, followed by Okehampton with 92 and Tavistock Black on 71. Chris Ralph, Jake Broome, Joshua Stephens, Laura Radgick, Alice Warnett, Tom Grennan-Cruise, Rachael Kelly, Kirsty Best, Joshua Hughes, Jonathan Evans and Nick Jarman all had wins for Tavistock Yellow.
First places in Tavistock Black went to Ross Williams, Felix Davies and Tom Waddington.
With age groups ranging from 9/under, it was a good opportunity for many of the younger swimmers to gain competitive experience in addition to improving their times. The swimmers were kept busy with each swimmer competing a number of times throughout the gala with a total of 25 personal best times recorded. Representing Tavistock for the first time was Katie Stephens who, despite being only 7 years old, swam splendidly for the 9/under team.

Alice Warnett, Joshua Stephens, Laura Radgick and Kirsty Best all competed in the Devon County Development Gala at Tiverton.
All the competitors improved their times, some by a considerable margin.
Results: Laura Radgick (14 years) 2nd 200m fly, 7th 100m back. Joshua Stephens (11/under): 7, 200m free; 5, 400m free; 5 200m individual medley; 7 100m back; 6 200m back. Alice Warnett (13 years):10 200m back; 12 100m back; 10 400m free; 11 100m individual medley; 7 800m free; 8 200m breaststroke; 16 100m free. Kirsty Best (12 years): 3 100m breaststroke; 3 200m breaststroke; 12 100m free.
