A DAY to ?make life easier? for Chagford?s senior citizens proved popular recently with more than 60 older people coming along to find out about services specifically aimed at helping them have a better quality of life.
The Making Life Easier day was organised on September 22, by West Devon Community Safety Partnership, led by Mid Devon PCT, Okehampton Adult and Community Education and Upstream Healthy Living Initiative. More than 25 different agencies attended with their displays and information.
Those who attended were able to experience chair yoga, get free health checks for diabetes and blood pressure, and try a variety of aids and gadgets to help make life easier and many went home with free energy saving light bulbs.
Organisers said feedback from those who attended had praised the ?wonderful, friendly, helpful people? on the various stalls, who had helped deal with matters like pension credit.
The Devon In Touch Roadshow bus was also available for those interested in new technology and many people visited it during the afternoon. A live link to Radio Devon from the bus was established and local Chagford organisations were able to broadcast information during the afternoon, about their services in the local community.
