CHILDREN and adults with disabilities will find the sport of golf more accessible thanks to a donation from Okehampton Town Council.

The council has donated Tri-Golf equipment to Okehampton Golf Club. Tri-Golf is a mini version of golf designed specifically for young children at infant, primary and junior schools, and can also be used by adults and children with disabilities.

Beverley Lawson, Okehampton Golf Club secretary said: 'The equipment means we can go out to schools and groups and introduce them to golf. It makes golf much more accessible to those who may not have had the chance to try it before.'

The equipment is designed so it is safe to use in schools and other environments, and makes it easy for children to achieve success. The pack includes chippers with over-sized club heads, putters, a variety of foam balls and other items needed to run the games and activities. The kit was first put to use on Monday, when Okehampton Golf Club's Jonny Rattenbury set up the equipment for use at the Puzzle Tree sports day at Okehampton Table Tennis Club.
