READING the front page of the Times (August 3), there are many people who were surprised at the idea of a Japanese garden at our hospital. May I suggest that the state of this area could become an ?English Garden ? a cottage type with English garden plants and trees? The ?stram? could be likened to a Dartmoor stream with heather alongside it and roses, hollyhock, buddleia etc. Maybe the Friends of the Okehampton Hospital might like to take it on as a project? Local people might donate plants from their own gardens ? or cash to buy plants in memoriam. Joan Pauley Vicarage Road Okehampton
