THE annual Dartmoor Dash, a five-mile, multi-terrain race along pathways, open moorland and a much loved bog, takes place this Sunday, September 6.

Starting from the Plume of Feathers, Princetown, at 10.30am, this year's event is sponsored by Dartmoor Brewery, formerly Princetown Brewery, and the Plume of Feathers Inn .

Princetown's retained fire service will be holding a static display and recruitment drive on the day.

There will be a one-mile fun run for children under 16 (entry £2). Entry for the Dash is £9 for non-affiliated runners and £7 for affiliated runners — entries can be made on the day before 10am with a £1 administration charge. There are awards for the top performers male and female and medals to all finishers. All proceeds go towards the Princetown Carnival fund.

One hundred runners took part last year, ranging from club runners to recreational, fun runners and keep fit enthusiasts.

Princetown Carnival fund expressed thanks to landowner Peter Crozier for his continued support of the event.
