COULD we, through your column, shout a very loud thank you to the people of the area for their tremendous support for this year's Hot Air Balloon Fiesta and Day at the Races.
This year, we had a wider programme and public support was essential. You came in your thousands and we are very grateful to everyone who attended. We very much hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
The weekend has become anchored in Tavistock' fascinating calendar of events and we look forward to growing the event still further next year.
Our charity take this year topped £8,000, a magnificent amount. Thank you one and all.
Our very sincere and special thanks go to an array of people. Our sponsors, Carlton Television, without whose support we would not sleep nights; Aerosaurus and Exeter Balloons, particularly Jonathan Robinson and Lindstrom; Tavistock College, without whom there would be no event; to all their maintenance and caretaking staff; to the Tavistock Police; the Tavistock Red Cross; the folk singers who sang for free; the many firms who sponsored horses; Lindsey and Chris Locke of A Rhyme in Tyme; Dick Toop; John Dawe; our programme advertisers; Tavistock Archery Club; the Military Vehicle Club; the Robey Trust; the Tug of War officials and team and Bill the Baker.
Again, many, many thanks.
