MAGIC Numbers bass ist Michele Stodart is due to play an intimate gig in West Devon this weekend, part of a national tour to promote her new solo album, Wide-Eyed Crossing.

Multi instrumentalist and vocalist Michele has received rave reviews in the national press, who have described her album as a beautiful mix of folk, blues and alternative country.

Michele will be performing at Rumleigh Farm, on the Bere Peninsula.

The gig was arranged after fan and friend of Michele, Melanie Hawkins, found to her disappointment that the closest venue on the tour to Devon was Bristol.

Through Facebook, she contacted Michele and asked her if she could add a gig in these parts — and to Melanie's surprise, Michelle asked her to suggest an ideal venue.

A few weeks earlier, Melanie had been to a gig in a barn at Rumleigh Farm near Bere Alston. The barn has been renovated to accommodate 180, has superb acoustics and after Michele had checked it out she agreed to appear.

Melanie said: 'The last time I saw Michele, she was performing at a festival in front of 40,000 people, so to see her at such an intimate venue in a stunning location beside the River Tamar will be amazing.'

The gig at Rumleigh is on Sunday, November 25.

Tickets are £8 in advance and £9 on the door and are available from Tavistock Picture Framing Gallery, The Edgecumbe Hotel, Bere Alston or from http://www.rumleigh.co.uk">www.rumleigh.co.uk

The barn and bar will be open from 7.30pm, no entry after 8.45pm.
