BREAKING from tradition, this year's Tavistock Carnival Princess will have three attendants following their recent selection in the parish rooms.

Judges and sponsors Lyn Roberts from the Times, David Scrivener from Lawsons and in-coming Lions president Richard Hamer said that choosing between the girls had been very difficult and having selected the Princess, they thought it would be fair to have the other three as her attendants.

This year's carnival starts on Friday July 9 with a Rock 'n' Roll dance in the town hall and finishes on Saturday July 17 with the grand procession, the theme being 'Let's Celebrate'.
