South Zeal United 1 Westexe 1 WITH five regular players injured Zeal put up a very creditable performance against Westexe. With a revamped defence and midfield Zeal struggled early on. Eventually Westexe took the lead when they broke down the left and the cross went in off John Halliday?s knee as he tried to clear. Slowly Zeal started to get into the game and could have equalised several times but for some good work by the Westexe keeper and some erratic finishing by the Zeal forwards. In the second half Zeal were the better side and could have scored three times in the first 20 minutes but again they could not beat the excellent Westexe keeper. Several times Nick Pollard, who had a great game at full back, broke down the left and put good crosses into the penalty area without result. Harley Cann did the same down the right but it looked as if the away side?s luck would hold out. Then with 15 minutes left some good football put Luke Honeychurch free down the left and from 12 yards out the Westexe keeper was eventually beaten as Luke?s cross shot went into the far corner of the net.
