Okehampton Columbines? second XI 1 Callington 2 IN their penultimate league match of the season Okehampton were unlucky to concede the game to Callington. Okehampton?s confidence has grown. This was demonstrated in the opening minutes of the game, when they kept possession and moved up the field. When Callington gained possession the Okehampton backs were able to tackle and clear swiftly with new player Becky Laws making strong hits to Jess Miller in midfield. Miller quickly found space, drew the opposition and made the most of supporting players. Kate Yells and Rachel Spry passed accurately and Okehampton showed greater strength on the attack. Determined tackling from Callington gave them possession, followed by strong, long passes through midfield which put Okehampton back on the defence. Effective marking allowed several clean clearances from the ?D?, but momentarily Okehampton were unable to remove the ball from danger allowing Callington the first goal. Okehampton responded immediately. Jess Miller moved the ball rapidly to the forwards, who worked together successfully to allow Rochelle Hillier to equal the score for Okehampton. During the second half Okehampton had improved turn around giving away many less free hits, long and short corners than in previous games. Callington scored once more from a strong feed into the ?D?. Okehampton had a number of close misses on goal and were unlucky not to score again. Next game: March 6 away to Liskeard.
