OKEHAMPTON Golf Club?s Anniversary Niblick was contested by 123 players on Saturday.

A strong wind, combined with the quickest greens of the year so far resulted in surprisingly low scoring for an individual stableford with only two players breaking the 40-point barrier.

The clear winner of the Niblick was Peter Atherton with an excellent 42 points.

Division 1 (43 players): 1, K Pedrick (6) 39pts last 9; 2, J Mansell (4) 39pts last 3; 3, D Owen (5) 39pts.

Division 2 (43 players): 1 P Atherton (15) 42pts; 2, T Reynolds (19) 39pts; 3, K Peckham(15) 38pts last 9.

Division 3 (37 players): 1, N Redman (23) 40 pts; 2, R Hodge (27) 39 pts last 6; 3, B Willcocks (20) 39pts.

Ladies? section: The lady members played their monthly medal on Wednesday week.

The weather was unkind, rain, wind and cold temperatures kept some in the clubhouse and those who went out and stayed out certainly all deserved a medal.

Silver division: 1, Mo Huggins (13) 72; 2. Pam Jarman (16) 71.

Bronze division: 1, Chris Stevens (26) 69; 2, Lorna Rolfe (25) 74.

Junior section: The third round of the EDJL was played in tricky conditions at Honiton on Saturday. Okehampton were the top team on the day with a combined score of 218 points which puts them in a challenging position near the top of the table.

This was an excellent team performance but special mention must go to Edwin Kendall who top scored for the team with 44pts.

An adult junior greensomes was played on Sunday afternoon.

Excellent weather and course conditions resulted in good scoring and a close result with any of the top six pairs with a chance of winning over the last few holes.

Winners were Paul and Jonny Rattenbury with 43pts, edging out Penny Deakin and Edwin Kendall on the last 9.
