AS part of the growing effort to involve young people in Christian life, Exeter Cathedral is to host an exciting youth worship event in February.
The all-night event, ?Love Fest 04 ? God?s Love, Love 4 Others, Love 4 Yourselves? is expected to bring together around 350 young people between 14 and 23 for a night of entertainment, exploration and worship. The event runs from 8pm on Saturday February 14 to 8am on the Sunday.
It will be filled with live music, discussions on social issues including drug awareness and a choice of 20 workshops on art, praise, meditation and more.
Contributors will include the Christian Art Company, the 316 Road Show, rock bands Escapade and Handmade alongside other acoustic musicians ? and even a comedian. Food and drink will be available from a (non-alcoholic) cocktail bar.
The team organising the event brings together youth workers from all the major denominations as well as the free churches in Exeter.
Dawn Manton, youth advisor for the Church of England in Devon, described the all-night event as a ?safe environment for young people to explore and gain a positive and diverse experience of church.?
Referring to the magnificent venue, Dawn added: ?We hope the event will have positive outcomes for the cathedral in promoting its heritage, beauty and commitment to young people in the Diocese of Exeter.?
Management of the event will be undertaken by around 150 adults overseeing workshops and stalls, security, health and safety and pastoral support. Young people under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
