OKEHAMPTON Golf Club ladies? section played a non-qualifying medal last week.
Due to the state of the greens, which were having their annual overhaul and were heavily sanded and wet, scoring was difficult but the winning scores were excellent in the conditions.
First, winning the silver division, was Mo Huggins with net 70, second was Penny Deakin net 73.
Winner of the bronze division was Chris Stevens also net 70, second was Shirley Stunnel with net 72.
On Thursday the finals of the ELGA (English Ladies Golf Association) Rosebud qualifier was held at Teignmouth Golf Club, with Sally Watkins the hard working ladies? county captain doing the starter?s job.
Two ladies from Okehampton took part, Cherry James and ladies? vice-captain Lorna Rolfe, who played magnificently and, with her excellent score of 34 points, won the competition from Gillian Hepburn (Teign Valley Golf Club) who scored 33 points.
This was a super win for Lorna and hopefully a good one for the club for when she takes over as ladies? captain in November.
