A NEW priest-in-charge of Hatherleigh, Meeth, Exbourne and Jacobstowe has been appointed. The Rev Ruth Hansford, who is currently a curate in the Hartland Coast Team, will be licensed for her new role on July 16. Ruth, from Bideford, has a science background with a BSc Pharmacology, PhD Toxicology, MSc Clinical Biochemistry with Molecular Biology, and also has a BA in Theology. Ruth, 38, said: ?I am sad to be leaving many friends and a loving and supporting curacy appointment, but looking forward to making new friends and continuing to engage with the joys and challenges of rural ministry.? She and her husband, Paul, are expecting their first child in November, and Ruth lists reading, walking, art and creative activities and swimming as her recreational interests.
