A CAMPAIGN to attract more volunteers to the Citizens Advice Service in West Devon has been launched, in an effort to maintain the number of people required to run the scheme.

Regional manager Pamela Woods said more than a third of volunteers that leave the CAB each year move into paid work and full time education — and that the turnover of volunteers is due to the success of the CAB volunteering scheme.

Ms Woods said: 'We did very well recruiting more last year and now have 2,249 volunteers working at bureaux in the west of England. They are the lifeblood of the service and many stay with us for years, others understandably move on into paid work, quite often within the CAB service.'

The CAB is not only looking for people to train as general advisers, but for people to act as trustee board members, to help with IT work, social policy campaign work or with general administrative support.

Regular enquiries to the CAB include benefit entitlements, consumer problems, employment rights, housing, legal problems, relationships, tax, community care and many others.

Anyone interested in finding out more about opportunities with the CAB should call the volunteer recruitment line on 08451 264 264, 9am until 12.30pm and 1.30pm until 5pm, or you can visit http://www.citizensadvice.org">www.citizensadvice.org. uk/join-us
