South West division one hockey league.
Penzance A 4
Tavistock A 0
TAVISTOCK'S last game of the year was a long away trip to Penzance.
The side travelled down with the bare 11, but were still hoping for points.
The visitors began the stronger as Doney managed an early effort which whistled just past the far post.
Gradually Penzance began to take control of the game and began to dominate; this was enhanced by Tavistock's failure to effectively clear the ball properly.
Penzance's first goal was scored by their centre forward, who managed to force the ball past 'keeper Mingo.
Penzance's second goal was a little unusual; it came from a long corner which everyone assumed was going out of play but instead rebounded off the post, only for the alert forward to put the ball away.
As the second half got underway Penzance didn't let up in their attacks. They went three up when a penalty flick was awarded for an infringement in the D.
Tavistock nearly grabbed a consolation when George slipped the ball to Copland who fired wide of the goalkeeper.
Penzance finished their rout with a deserved forth goal with ten minutes still remaining.
Tavistock look forward to the second half of the season next year where they hope to start moving back up the league.
