Duchy division three Bere Alston United 3 Bodmin Saints 4 TABLE topping Saints took the lead inside 30 seconds as poor defending left Bere's keeper Tony Rawlings exposed; he saved the first shot brilliantly but could not stop the follow up from the visiting striker. There was more woeful defending from Bere when a simple clearance was messed up to allow the Saints to break and score with a crisp drive. Only desperate goal line clearances from the home side kept the two-nil deficit from being increased by half-time. Bere came out for the the second half with a different attitude and fought for every ball but got caught out when a cross-cum shot was deflected in to the goal. This spurred the home side and a Darren Philips volley beat the Saints keeper. There was more pressure from Bere and again it was Phillips who scored, this time after he had beaten the advancing keeper in a race for the ball to toe poke it in to the net. Saints then became rattled and began to defend deep, only hitting long balls to clear their lines. This tactic caught Bere and a long ball up field was converted to hit the fourth for the visitors. Bere created more chances but these were missed; this and poor defending are costing the side dear.
