LOCKS to 22 doors in the new flats built on the former Village Arcade in Tavistock had to be replaced, costing £1,500, after thieves stole a large bunch of keys. The break-in occurred between Friday, March 23 and the morning of Monday, March 26. They entered a section of the building which workmen had been using as a canteen – due to the flats currently not being occupied. Thieves took fizzy drinks from the fridge, turned on the microwave after putting tiling grout into it which ruined the appliance, and stole 22 bunches of keys with fobs on. All the locks to the doors had to be replaced throughout the building which cost £1,500. PC Simon Raeburn believes the offence was probably committed by young people. If anyone has information on this incident, contact PC Raeburn at Tavistock Police Station on 08452 777444 and quote the crime reference number JT/07/356.
