A GROUP of small local charities work day in and day out to make sure some of the most vulnerable and disabled people are able to get out and about in West Devon.
During the cold weather hundreds of vulnerable people were helped by their local Ring and Ride, Community Bus, Voluntary Car Services, Voluntary Hospital Car Service, Outreach workers or received a phone call from a local community transport office to make sure they were coping with the cold spell.
Community transport each week, works with hundreds of local people who need support in getting out and about.
Andy Lyle, manager of Tavistock Area Support Services, one of the community transport groups, said: 'In Devon we have small local charities operating week in week out providing hope for a brighter tomorrow. Volunteers give up their time to drive the buses, take people to hospital appointments, man the offices as well as all the other jobs in making transport for the community work in Devon.'
