A DOUSLAND pub and its locals are offering a helping hand to local runner Dan Cater who will be competing in the London Marathon to raise money for a local children's charity.

Dan, aged 26, whose parents Phil and Sarah run the Punch Taverns' owned Burrator Inn in Dousland, has already raised more than £1,500 for the Children's Hospice South West and is on track to raise in excess of a further £3,000 before the run on Sunday, April 17.

The Burrator Inn will be holding a raffle to raise money for the cause, taking place at 8pm this Saturday, April 2, with prizes donated by local customers and businesses.

Sarah Cater, licensee of the Burrator Inn, said: 'I am so proud of Dan and he has received a lot of support from the regulars and I hope local people give generously and help us raise money for this brilliant cause.'

Dan, who is studying to be a personal trainer, said: 'I really enjoy keeping fit and running the London Marathon is always something I wanted to achieve. I chose Children's Hospice South West as I wanted to support a local charity and they provide so much enjoyment for kids during their short lives.'
