TAVISTOCK bellringers will be ringing the changes in a big way this Saturday (April 26).

The ten ringers at St Eustachius Church will be attempting to ring a full peal of 5040 changes at around 3.15pm, the peal taking about three-and-a-quarter hours to complete. Every change has to be different and must not be repeated.

?To ring a full peal takes a considerable amount of concentration and effort,? tower captain George Mudge said. ?Bellringing is predominantly an English art and it is fitting that we should ring a peal on the nearest Saturday to St George?s Day .?

Mr Mudge said bellringing was a great hobby which everyone could enjoy. Anyone interested in campanology can contact him for information on 01822 615456.
