A PUBLIC meeting will be held in Callington Council Chamber on February 20 where members of the public can discuss priorities for action in the community. The first PACT meeting (Partners and Communities Together) has been organised by the local police who will be in attendance. 'The whole ethos of PACT is getting the community to dictate to us what they feel is a priority in their community — it could be speeding, dog fouling, highways matters and we work with partner agencies to address them,' said Sergeant Brett Phillips. The officer said the meeting was not a time for moaning about the lack of response times or policing but a chance for the community as a whole, including the police and partners, to resolve issues that were important to local people. 'We are initially setting up the meetings and will be regular attenders but we hope to form a PACT panel of members from the community who are voted in,' added the sergeant. 'They will then run the meetings in the future and work in collaboration with us and other agencies to solve problems.'
