ON behalf of the Devon Lupus Group, I would like to thank everyone who supported and donated to the Lions Club of Tavistock Carnival and summer events. We are very grateful to the Lions Club for including us in their group of recipient charities this year. Lupus is an auto-immune disease, which is treatable, but is not curable at present. Research into lupus is currently being carried out at the Peninsula Medical School and a lupus support nurse at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital is working in conjunction with patients and the Medical School on a research project. Much of our locally raised funds, with the sanction of our trustees, are being used in support of this reaearch. October is Lupus Awareness Month and if anyone wishes to know more about this debilitating illness and the work of our charity, please contact me on 01566 780408. Richard Day, Chairman Devon Lupus Group THE street collection at Yelverton on September 22 and 23, in aid of Children?s Hospice South West, totalled £609.56.
