THE Lions Club of Tavistock has secured a vital tactile diagram service for people with sight loss by donating £1,000 for a new machine at the RNIB Transcription Centre in Ivybridge.

Tactile diagrams are used by people with sight loss throughgout West Devon, as well as the wider South West region and beyond.

An RNIB spokesperson said: 'The tactile diagram service means so much to the people who use it. Producing anything from a map of England to a diagram of a Harry Potter character — tactile diagrams bring the world to life for people who cannot see the printed word or their environment.

'This generous donation will make a huge difference to them and enables us to go on providing this vital service to blind and partially sighted people.'
