ANNE Johnson, a trustee of Kingdon House Community Association, contacted Tavistock Lions, asking if it would be possible for the club to help decorate the Taylor room at Kingdon House.

The club readily agreed and a team of Lions members was soon hard at work as can be seen from the attached photo.

The room looked great after they had finished but was let down by the state of the carpet so the Lions contacted Fairway Furniture to see if they would be able to help replace it, which they agreed to do.

Karen Woodward, the manager at Kingdon House, was delighted the Lions had agreed to carry out the decorating and thanked them, Peter Harding, of Fairway Furniture, and Ken Shield, of Shields DIY, for helping with the supply of the carpet and decorating materials.

Mr Harding said Kingdon House and the Lions are well established and respected institutions within Tavistock and that he was delighted to be able to help them with the refurbishment of the Taylor room, which incidentally used to be the office of Eric Kingdon who at that time was editor of the Tavistock Gazette.
