A LANE linking Mary Tavy and Peter Tavy is to be repaired in the next few weeks, making it once more useable for walkers and horse riders.
Horndon Clam Lane is officially an unclassified road, but spokesman for Devon County Council Bob Tremblett said it had eroded so much it was ?hardly a footpath? now.
?We have done work on the Mary Tavy side before and put in granite kerbs.
The work this time is on the Peter Tavy side,? he said. Big, loose stones will be removed and the rest ?graded as best as possible?.
With problems with funding, money had had to be directed elswhere, he added.
Parish clerk for both villages, Ann Cole, welcomed the news and said the parish councils had been trying to get the lane repaired for the best part of ten years.
?You can hardly walk up and down there, although you can get through on horseback. It would be used if it were in better condition,? she said.
The start of work was described as being ?imminent? ? within the next two to three weeks.
