A TAVISTOCK couple celebrated their golden wedding recently with a party for 90 family members and friends at the town?s Royal British Legion Club.
Ivor and Beryl Watson married at Lamerton Parish Church on March 13, 1954 and had six children, who were all reunited for the first time since leaving home for the anniversary celebrations.
The couple met at Tavistock Hospital where Beryl was a nurse and where Ivor used to deliver sausages when he worked for Friends the Butchers in the town.
They lived at Lamerton for a time but have spent most of their married life in Tavistock.
Beryl retired from the nursing/caring profession two years ago after 18 years as a senior carer at Crelake Residential Home.
As well as looking after one of her seven grandchildren one day a week, Beryl enjoys going to bingo and is a member of the RBL Women?s Section and her husband is a keen walker.
For their anniversary the couple were also treated to a limousine ride around the Tavistock and Yelverton area.
